Its impressive size and weight reflect the working demands of the period, while the smooth ironstone with its coppered looking surface has stayed in extraordinary condition for its age. The crock now serves as a striking decorative object that can hold branches, umbrellas, or rolls of paper, and it may also be used as a distinctive planter.
